Writing Down My Philosophy

Reading about all the different philosophies was a good exercise. Different schools of thought have existed for a long time and new ones come along in response to many different stimuli. It's also interesting how these schools of thought are applied to different areas, such as education, psychology, or economics. I remember the existentialism reading saying that this school of thought has only been recently applied to educational theory and the problems of education. Taking the time to examine and mull over what is important to you as an educator is very worthwhile. Comparing what you believe to be right or wrong with another belief system can either affirm what you are doing or make you consider your strategies and ways of doing things in the classroom. Revisiting what you have written down from time to time also seems like a wise thing to do. As we gain new experiences and find other ways to problem solve, our ideas and teaching tenets can become modified and improved.
