To sort of quote Buzz Lightyear, the title of my final blog for this class indicates where I want to go with what I've learned..Beyond!! I think there is so much that can be accomplished just with what I've learned in 8 weeks. I feel I have only scratched the surface with this new found knowledge and technology. Once I get really good at podcasting, using Jing, and Audacity (I really like Audacity and its audio editing features!! Check it out, and it's a free download too.), I feel I will really be able to effectively incorporate what I've learned to my teaching.
My students are really going to love some of the things I plan to show them. I want them to be able to make their own Jing videos for projects and activities. This will appeal to all students but especially to those reluctant learners.
Some of my "Aha" moments were when I first captured some audio with Audacity. I recorded two separate tracks of a knock knock joke. When I played them back together it sounded really cool! Another was my first Jing computer screen capture. My son was watching. He is very interested in video and editing also. He was as excited as I was. I put this how-to video for using our school library's on-line catalog in my e-portfolio even though it's not perfect. I figure I can go back and listen to it some time and have a laugh. Hopefully my videos and recordings will get better and better.
The best way to measure if I've learned anything from a class, is if I feel I've walked away with something I'll use later. For this class, it would be an emphatic YES!!
